Mission & Philosophy
| THE mindRAMP MISSION Our mission is to make longevity worth living. Our goal is to improve the quality of life as we age by translating, distilling and disseminating current information on brain research and bridging the neuroscience language barrier. The first priority is to promote brain health, by motivating positive behavior changes that reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors associated with brain structures. The second priority is to promote the ongoing cognitive enhancement of mature minds. We reexamine and then challenge assumptions that cognitive decline is inevitable with age. "If we can avoid disease and can nurture creativity and learning, the mature mind has the potential for continued growth, creativity and wisdom throughout longevity." Dr. Gene Cohen Back To Top THE mindRAMP PHILOSOPHY Positive AgingmindRAMP recognizes the power and potential of mature minds and rejects the antiquated view that cognitive decline is inevitable with age. We resolutely maintain that learning, creativity and meaningful engagement can - and should - continue throughout the lifespan as essential ingredients for healthy, vibrant minds. The Resilient Mind mindRAMP considers the human brain the most remarkable and dynamic life force in existence; one that has evolved to be intentionally used, shaped and reshaped throughout life. We believe that the best way to protect the health and wellness of the brain is to challenge and use it to its fullest creative potential. The greatest power of the human brain is its ability to mindfully and intentionally change itself—for the better—in response to both internal effort and external stimulation. Social Cognition and Social Interaction Humans are social beings. Our brains have evolved to operate at maximum potential when regularly engaged in social settings. Cognitive enhancement is best achieved in a context of live, face-to-face interaction with between human beings. Virtual communications and media can be most effective when they replicate core elements of live interaction. Evidence-based Research The first step toward protecting and nurturing the aging brain is to learn how the aging brain works. Advice and guidance on brain health and cognitive enhancement must be based firmly on the latest, evidence-based research. Brain research is a new frontier, a burgeoning field with discoveries emerging daily. International scientific research must be regularly monitored and translated into meaningful, practical applications that will be readily available to help adults maintain brain wellness over a lifecourse. Holistic Wellness mindRAMP focus on stimulating brain wellness and cognitive vitality recognizing that body and brain are inseparable. True sustainable wellness can only achieved through a comprehensive, holistic approach.
