MINDRAMP CONSULTING was started in 2009 by Michael C. Patterson and Roger Anunsen. Our goal from the start has been to figure out how to cope with cognitive decline that often comes with age. What can we do to prevent or slow cognitive decline? Or, failing that, how can we find quality-of-life even if we begin to lose cognitive function?
In a very real sense, our quest is selfish. We want to figure out this brain health business for ourselves. But we are also passionate about sharing what we find with you - and with anyone who will take the time to listen to us.
The cognitive wellness approach that has evolved over our years of research and development - the MINDRAMP System (MR//s) - is built on a strong foundation of solid science. The system translates research insights into actionable programs that can be practiced by anyone. The MR//S explains what to do, why it works, and how to integrate the behavior changes into the fabric of your life.
To the best of our knowledge the MR//S is unique in the field of brain health. It will be replicated by others, because it makes sense. It is where the science led us and others will soon make the same journey. But, for now, the MR//S is the most comprehensive brain health and cognitive wellness program available to the general public.
One of the most important research insights of the past few years is that brain health strategies must be combinatorial and precise. There are multiple factors that can affect the health of your brain. You need to deal with all of them to keep your brain healthy. Further, your brain is unique. So what works for me probably won't work for you, because our brains are different. Your brain health strategy has to be designed precisely to fit your unique needs.
The MR//S solves this conundrum by treating brain health as a partnership. The MR//S provides the guidelines and a flexible framework. You work with a Cognitive Wellness Counselor who gets you started with a set of basic interventions. You then build on this foundation to design your own customized cognitive wellness strategies. You figure out which risk factors you need to confront. You determine how you are going to deal with them. You do the work. And, when the strategy needs to be adjusted, you are the one who makes the alterations.
As President of MINDRAMP Consulting, Roger coordinates program development and marketing, develops and teaches brain health curriculum and distance learning platforms, and presents highly regarded brain health talks for a range of organizations across the country, including universities, senior groups, hospitals and business groups. Roger is director of MINDRAMP’s Brain Health Initiative.
Roger is a science writer and creator of the MemAerobics cognitive intervention programs. Anunsen has hosted the radio program “What’s New in Brain Wellness,” and developed a cable tv series called “This is Your Brain On . . . “ He is in high demand as the presenter of seminars and workshops, and has designed national brain health educational programs.
Anunsen was appointed a voting delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, is a regular presenter and panelist at American Society on Aging conferences and presented at the “First Global Conference on Aging” at the University of Oxford, UK in July of 2009.
Anunsen has degrees in political science, business and economics and, after earning his Juris Doctorate, built a 26-year legal career in which he led litigation efforts on behalf of wildlife, authored articles on family farm law and served as co-chair of the Oregon Medical Association/Oregon State Bar Legal-Medical Committee.
